This chapter presents current perspectives, theories, and models relating to the role of emotion in sports performance. It reviews models and theories relating to the role of stress, arousal, and anxiety in athletic performance. Of particular emphasis is the phenomenon of choking, as well as the inverse phenomenon of clutch performance.
